It now has the ability to add Airsoft Events as well find and edit existing events in the Airbana database.

You can browse an interactive map of the world to find Airsoft Skirmish sites, load up their info and then ring or email the site directly from your phone.

There is also an Airsoft News app that pulls the latest News from ArniesAirsoft.co.uk and PopularAirsoft.com

Finally there is an Airsoft Events widget that can be added to the home screen.

The app is free and can be downloaded right now at the App Market.

The latest version allows you to add and edit Airsoft events, browse an interactive map of the world to find Airsoft sites, load up their details and email / dial their contact details. It also hooks into the news feeds from ArniesAirsoft.co.uk and PopularAirsoft.com for the latest news.

This app also includes a Widget for listing upcoming Airsoft Events.

Version 1.2 should be hitting the App Market in the next couple of weeks.

The site has had a front end overhaul part of which means www.AirsoftMap.net is using the latest AJAX methods, Google Maps API and the web and DB servers have been upgraded to the latest Nehalem CPU’s, finally the Geographically distributed CDN is in full operation.

What this means for you is that the site will now load up in less than 1 second no matter where you are in the world, Airbana now has native StreetView functionality and the API can handle even more requests than it previously could.

Latest Additions

A new feature has been added that allows you to get the latest additions to the Airbana database, this can be useful for keeping a watch on what’s happening or simply having an extra little bit of info on your home page. Full documentation is available here.

Write Access

The write access functions have been improved to allow better handling of errors due to permissions or formatting issues.

Airbana Add Widget

Now that the Write API is fully functioning I’d like to announce the “Airbana Add Widget”. By simply pasting the little snippet of code below you can instantly add a small button to your website that will allow people to add information to Airbana without having to leave your site!

Facebook Applications

I’m currently refreshing all of the Airbana Facebook applications and the first to be completed is the Airbana Airsoft Calendar Event Facebook application. This app now lists all of the events for the current month and allows you to add new ones as well as add the Event listings to any Facebook pages you may have.

Airsoft Calendar

The Airbana and National Airsoft Girls Calendar (www.AirsoftCalendar.info) has been refreshed with a new design allowing you to get more information about a month’s events, more information about the NAG pictured for that month and with the improvements to the Write API you can add new events directly to the Calendar!

Matlock Combat Games
Matlock Combat Games (formerly First & Only Matlock) is an Airsoft site just outside Matlock on the A632 Chesterfield Rd. It is a woodland site of approx 30 acres with varied terrain throughout.

Internet Cafe:
There will be a minimum of 6 internet connected PC’s with 17″ LCD screens, optical mice etc running a customised version of Fedora Linux.

I’ll also be providing additional WiFi in the bar area and geography permitting will hopefully extend the WiFi to the the outside stalls etc for those of you with SmartPhones / Netbooks etc.

Posters:
I’ll have a collection of A0 (1.2m x 0.9m) gloss finish posters of the Airbana UK Skirmish Map.

Augmented Reality Demo:
I’ll be adding all of the Stall locations including their details into the Augmented Reality Layar software so people can see how the software works in real life (and if you download and install the Layar app (Android, Windows, Blackberrry and iPhone) before you get to the Event you’ll be able to see where everything is in real time.

BoomBox Project Demo:
The BoomBox project is a spin off from the RFID tracker project and is inspired by the BattleField Bad Company 2 Rush Mode / Counter Strike Bomb mode. I’ll release more details closer to the time.

SMS Details:
I’m still working on this one but I’m working on a system that will allow you to send a text to 83010 with the message airbana aaf (which will cost 20p) and then this will add you to an announcement list for the day (we’ll delete all numbers at the end of the day). If and when stuff happens (be it a product demo, raffle draw etc etc) we’ll text you (these ones will be free) to let you know what is happening!

The final build of a customised Linux distribution finished late last night and the deployment to the machines used for the Internet cafe will start next week.

The final proofs for the A0 posters and the A6 leaflets arrived yesterday;

The final componants for the BoomBox project arrived from the manufacturing plant in Belgium on Tuesday so I’ve got a lot of soldering / programming to do before the 21st so I can demo this new toy.

I’ll be tweeting / taking pictures from the @Airbana twitter account during the setup on Friday and during the day on Saturday.

I’ll also add a Twitter stream to one of the projector screens so people can track #AirsoftAF tweets as the day goes on.

Embeddable News

The Embeddable version of Airbana has also taken off most notably it is now featured on both Arnies Airsoft and Airsofters Forum.

Airbana will also be present at the first Airsoft Arms Fair on May 22nd where I’ll be providing several Internet connected machines for free browsing, free WiFi and demonstration devices for the Augmented Reality software, the RFID player tracker equipment and demo’s of some of the new projects such as Mils.im and AirsoftTeam.info.

Site Operators can create an event listing all the details, rules etc and specify how many walk on or hire places there are (and the prices) as well as create additional types of attendance.

Once Skirmishers have signed up a Site Operator can monitor attendance figures with ease as Mils.im can present the data in tables and graphs, generate a PDF attendance sheet and more.

Reservations can be altered or cancelled as and when required by both the Site Operator or the Skirmisher.

Site Operators can contact attendees via pre-paid SMS or via email for free to ensure they are kept up to date with the status of the event.

Mils.im also offers something to Skirmishers too; once a Skirmisher has attended an Event the Site Operator can confirm their attendance and this will be then reflected in their Skirmish Diary.

The Skirmish Diary is a customisable personalised area of Mils.im for each skirmisher where they can display as little or as much information as they wish regarding their contact details and Skirmish activity.

This allows a skirmisher to prove to a retailer or another skirmisher during a face to face sale that they are in fact a skirmisher and the Retailer / seller can view all the raw data and make their own conclusions.

Since the only people that can confirm site attendance are Site Operators (and all site operator accounts are manually vetted) this ensures that the Skirmish diary cannot be abused or used to mislead people.

Signing up for a Mils.im Skirmisher account is easy as the bare minimum required to sign up is an email address and password or you can register and sign in with Facebook connect.

Any site operators who sign up before the end of March will get their site name and events added to the Airbana March & April Google Adwords / Facebook ads rotation.

Mils.im is an Airbana project and free to use for everyone. To ensure the safety of peoples information and login credentials any sensitive information is encrypted via SSL and even stored in the database in an encrypted form.
